Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 8th and get ready to shine at Lucky Star Dance Company’s Competition Team Auditions! Whether you’re an experienced performer or trying out for the very first time, we’re thrilled to welcome dancers of all skill levels. No matter your experience or desired level of commitment, we have a team that’s perfect for you!

AUDITION SCHEDULE
12:00 PM – 12:45 PM | Ages 3-5
Our youngest stars will enjoy a fun-filled 45-minute dance class. No preparation is required—just come ready to move and have fun!

What to Wear: Comfortable clothing that’s easy to move in.

Shoes: Ballet slippers, jazz shoes, or bare feet.​

1:00 PM – 2:00 PM | Ages 6-10
Dancers will learn short jazz and contemporary combinations, plus across-the-floor exercises.

What to Wear: Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement.

Shoes: Bring turners, pirouettes, jazz shoes, or dance barefoot—whatever works best for you.​

2:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Ages 11+
Older dancers will participate in a dynamic audition experience! Prepare to learn combinations in Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap, as well as across-the-floor exercises focusing on turns, leaps, and overall technique.

What to Wear: All-black attire that allows for easy movement.

Shoes: Bring appropriate footwear for each style:

Contemporary/Jazz: Turners, pirouettes, dance socks, or bare feet.

Hip Hop: Clean sneakers.

Tap: Tap shoes.

All dancers are required to submit the google form below prior to auditioning.

Dress Code: All-black attire for dancers aged 11+.

Can my child still join the competition team if it is past the audition dates?
Yes, we have rolling auditions for team throughout the entirety of the competition year! ​

How do I know which team is the best fit for my child?
Choosing the right team is crucial, and we've got options tailored to time commitments. Teams range from 2-3 hours per week for the lowest commitment level, up to 12 hours or more for the maximum commitment level. Local travel includes Johnstown and Harrisburg for the lower commitment teams, while mid-level commitment may take dancers as far as Ohio or Lancaster. For the high-commitment team, get ready for exciting ventures to New Jersey, Maryland, and beyond! What type of routines will my child be a part of?
They'll receive a list of dance offerings curated based on the perfect fit with our teachers. Options include solos, duos/trios, and group dances spanning various genres.

Here's where your parental input comes in: after receiving this list, you get to decide which dances your child would like to pursue. It's a collaborative process, ensuring that your child's dance journey aligns with their preferences and interests. Get ready for a tailor-made and delightful dance experience!
