ACRO LEVEL
BREAKDOWN
(AGES 9+)
For Fall & Spring 26/27
Level 1
Beginner Acro dancers who are new to tumbling and foundational skills.
Skills include:
-
Bridges
-
Handstands
-
Cartwheels
-
Backbends
-
Introduction to fundamental flexibility and contortion work
Level 2
Dancers working toward back walkovers and front walkovers.
Requirements for placement:
-
Must have a bridge
-
Must be able to hold a backbend and stand up
Skills include progression of walkovers, strength building, and controlled flexibility.

Level 3
Dancers working toward back handsprings and aerials.
Requirements for placement:
-
Must have both front and back walkovers
Skills include backhandsprings, side aerials, front step outs, etc.
Level 4
Advanced acro dancers working on elite tumbling and contortion skills.
Requirements for placement:

Back handspring
-
Side aerial
-
Front and back walkovers
Skills include:

Back tucks
-
Front aerials
-
Advanced tumbling combinations
-
Advanced contortion and flexibility training

OVERALL LEVEL BREAKDOWN
(AGES 9+)
For Fall & Spring 26/27
Level 1 – Beginner / Recreational
Level 1 is designed for our recreational dancers who take fewer than 4 classes per week. It also includes:

Rising Star competition team dancers
-
Popstar/Shooting Star competition team dancers recommended by LSDC Staff

This level focuses on foundational training, consistency, and proper technique development.
NOTE: Advancement to Level 2 requires staff approval.
Level 2 – Intermediate / Novice Team & Committed Recreational
Level 2 is designed for:
-
Recreational dancers who take 5 or more classes per week
-
Popstar/Shooting Star competition team dancers recommended by LSDC Staff
Dancers in this level are expected to have a basic understanding of dance terminology, musicality, and body awareness, and are ready to continue developing their technical foundation and performance quality at a more focused pace.

Level 3 – Competitive
Level 3 is designed for competition team dancers who compete their solos in the Competitive division. Dancers who compete their solos in the Novice division are not eligible for Level 3 classes unless a staff member places them at this level for a specific genre (for example, Contemporary).
This level emphasizes advanced technique, performance quality, and consistency across multiple styles.
Level 4 – Elite
Level 4 is designed for competition team dancers who compete their solos in the Elite division.
Dancers competing in Novice or Competitive divisions are not eligible for Level 4 unless a staff member places them at this level for a specific genre (for example, Ballet).
This level is reserved for elite technical execution, artistry, and pre-professional training standards.
Level Placement & Advancement
Our staff carefully evaluates each dancer’s technique, training, and overall readiness. Dancers will be moved to the next level when they have developed the necessary foundational and technical skills to succeed.
